Young Naturalist Access Program

Raising funds for the Young Naturalist Access Program (YNAP)

The Young Naturalist Access Program (YNAP) has already provided more than 100 local kids and their families with summer camp scholarships and YNAP Youth and Family Memberships to the Cayuga Nature Center and Museum of the Earth.

Our goal for Giving is Gorges is to raise enough funds to provide 10 more YNAP memberships. Every $250 raised will allow us to add one more young person to the program. Any amount you give will make an immediate impact on a local young person’s life.

YNAP provides youth in need (aged 5-17, or still in high school) free access to both a week of summer camp at Cayuga Nature Center and/or a one-year YNAP Youth Membership to PRI, Cayuga Nature Center, and the Museum of the Earth.  This membership will provide young people and their families/caregivers all of the benefits of a regular PRI membership plus free access to all of our ticketed events, such as Maple Fest and local Fossil Field Trips.

Currently, more than 300 youth in Tompkins County receive free or reduced lunches. These Thumb dino boy smallchildren face barriers that prevent them from accessing opportunities for informal science education that we may take for granted. With donor support, we would like to grow YNAP to enable any child in Tompkins County who qualifies for free or reduced lunch to access the STEM-based enrichment opportunities that PRI has to offer.

If you know of a youth who would benefit from this program, help them to take advantage of it!  A very simple application can be found on our website at www.priweb.org/YNAP.

Together, we can help lower the barriers to informal science education, improve access to the natural environment, and help create paths to lifelong learning for under-served children and families in our community.
